Knight time at the net

A balanced attack helps Elkhorn Mount Michael win its first state tennis title since 1991.

Frosh tops No. 1 singles; Junior Jays' streak at 5

Confident? You bet John DeVose is. His confidence - and a whole lot of skill - carried the Papillion-La Vista South freshman past Omaha Creighton Prep's Craig Faulk 6-4, 6-1 in the state Class A No. 1 singles final on Friday at the Koch Family Tennis Center.

Creighton Prep, Westside hold top two spots

Drew Mercier munched on a few Cheez-Its, watching the Class A state tennis tournament. Nearby, an Omaha Westside fan said to another that she had never seen the Warrior senior smile so much. When you're relaxed, when you're confident, when you win, it's hard not to grin. Mercier, the No. 8 seed, defeated top seed Taylor Boney of Lincoln Southwest 6-2, 6-4 during first-day action Thursday at the Koch Family Tennis Center.

Tennis helps McCook boy in comeback

Scott Friehe has been cancer-free for three months after he was diagnosed in February with an inoperable brain tumor.
