All goes wrong in Wright's debut

Omaha quarterback Chuck Wright couldn't have imagined a worse start to what he hopes is a long career with the Omaha Beef. Visiting Sioux Falls couldn't have dreamed up a better opener in what it hopes will be a United Indoor Football Association title defense. Wright was flushed out of the pocket and fumbled on the game's first play, setting the tone for what would be a frustrating 51-29 loss Friday night at the Civic Auditorium.

New faces look to bolster Beef

A year ago, Robert Fuller posted a winning record (9-7) in his first season as the Omaha Beef's head coach. But it's clear from the 2006 roster that Fuller looked for new blood to begin his quest to win a United Indoor Football Association title. Fuller and his retooled Beef open tonight against UIF defending champion Sioux Falls. Kickoff at the Civic Auditorium is 7:35, and Fuller expects a crowd of about 7,000.

Ex-Mav Nizzi returns to Omaha

Medical misfortune paved the way for Mike Nizzi to return to the Omaha Beef for his second season. He expects to be "near 100 percent" for Friday night's season opener at the Civic Auditorium against Sioux Falls.

Beef assistants announced

Omaha Beef coach Robert Fuller announced his coaching staff for the season, which begins Friday with a home game against Sioux Falls.

Stella's home, and Beef are glad to have him

Randy Stella's college career ended more than a year ago, but he says football continues to run through his veins. So when Omaha Beef coach Robert Fuller offered him a chance to play indoor football, Stella didn't hesitate to say yes. Stella joined 39 others who participated in this weekend's invitation-only tryouts. It was a chance for him to meet some of his new teammates.
