If Creighton is to snap a seven-game women's basketball skid today against Drake, the Bluejays will have to do it without star guard Kristi Woodard.

Woodard's return from a shoulder injury that has sidelined her since Jan. 18 has been delayed until next week. The senior from Bellevue West is out of the shoulder harness that she had worn since the injury, but team medical personnel decided she needs additional rehabilitation time before getting back to action.

"She actually did some shooting in practice after getting out of the harness on Wednesday, but our trainers felt she needed at least a week of rehab," Creighton coach Jim Flanery said.

The Bluejays are 0-6 without Woodard, the team's second-leading scorer with a 15.9 point average. With her, Creighton was 6-8 but started Missouri Valley Conference play 4-1.

The Bluejays head into today's 3:05 p.m. game at Civic Auditorium 4-7 and tied for sixth in the conference. The top six teams in the regular-season standings advance to the quarterfinals of next month's Valley tournament, while the bottom four teams face having to play their way into the bracket.

"In some ways, it's hard to imagine that a team that was 4-0 to start the league is now 4-7 and struggling to keep its head above water," Flanery said. "We have to remember that we were reeling coming into the league and we found a way to win one game. That got us started."
