Knights collect third-straight road victory

WORLD-HERALD NEWS SERVICE

PEORIA, Ill. - Carsen Germyn scored his team-leading 14th goal of the season with 12:52 left Wednesday night to propel the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights to a 3-2 American Hockey League victory over the Peoria Rivermen.

Germyn's goal came off the rebound of a Dave Moss shot and delivered the Knights' third straight road victory. Curtis McElhinney, who was in goal for the Knights' Nov. 5 victory in Peoria, collected 34 saves.

The Knights (12-9-0-5) will play host to two weekend games against the San Antonio Rampage (6-16-0-1). Saturday's 7 p.m. game at the Civic Auditorium will be televised on Cox Communications Channel 2. Sunday's game is at 5 p.m.

Peoria (15-7-0-1) scored first when Jon DiSalvatore fired in his seventh goal of the season on a first-period power play.

The Knights responded with the first of two Cam Severson goals. He slammed home the shorthanded goal at the 10:46 mark against goaltender Reinhard Divis.

Omaha took the lead five minutes into the second period when Severson scored off the rebound of a shot by Justin Taylor.

Trent Whitfield tied the game for Peoria late in the second period on a power-play goal before Germyn unleashed his game-winning goal.
