Senators advance sex-offender law

The Nebraska Legislature gave first-round approval Monday to a sweeping bill aimed at strengthening Nebraska's sex offender law, including allowing authorities to commit some offenders after their prison time is served.

Tax benefit biggest for poor, rich

The poor and the affluent would profit most from the income tax cuts Nebraska lawmakers will resume debating today. Middle-income Nebraskans would receive less: a $71 income tax cut per year.
